      SLU Records is honoured to be awarded 5 international Soca Awards. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the event because we couldn’t afford it as C.D.F. currently still owes SLU Records $8, 000.00 in prize money from the Caribbean Soca Competition which was held back in July and has given no indication of when they will be paying the money.

      Attending the International Soca Awards would have cost SLU Records over $4, 000. Unfortunately as a result of being short paid from C.D.F. we are unable to make such financial commitments. We recently invested heavily in upgrading our Studio and a promotional tour to Miami with assistance from Digicel. We have been disappointed too many times from the authorities to take such risk. We were called upon and promised funds to produce two music videos for Ricky T. and Teddyson John last year soon after Carnival 2007. We were then told that the funds allocated for the videos were spent on the Cheating Video with Mari-Ann and the first St. Lucia Music Awards.

      We have sacrificed allot as a team to be where we are today. We also do not expect hand-outs from the government or C.D.F.; however we believe we should be paid the money due to us in a timely fashion. Concerning the music videos that were promised, we believe it is still the authorities’ decision where they invest their money, but they should not make us empty promises because we make strategic decisions based on these promises. As a result, SLU Records has to prioritise our limited income and do what we believe is most important to the future of our company and artistes.

      We would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming support and the entire world for voting for us. In the past we have never depended on any agency or government and we won’t start now. Mr. Vegas, Soca Road Mix of the Year-Leh Go Me Riddim - Ricky T - Pressure Boom (Road Mix), Soca Song of the Year - Get On by Faye-Ann Lyons & Pressure Boom by Ricky T.
